Statues_at_the_square_012.JPG

The city of Charlotte has four statues on the corners of the main square of the city, the corners of Trade Street and Tryon Street. This figure, of a mill worker wearing a bonnet, represents Industry. The three other statues represent Transportation, Future and Commerce. American sculptor Raymond Kaskey created the four public art statues. Some people say the child peeking out from beneath her skirt represents child labor in the past.
