Thrill seekers zoom with their feet hanging down on the Afterburn thrill ride coaster, one of the tallest and fastest steel coasters in the world. The Afterburn roller coaster is an inverted coaster with trains suspended below the track. Riders loop on the outside of the track instead of on the inside. The thrill ride is part of Carowinds, a 112-acre theme park is a combination amusement park and water park located on the state lines between North Carolina and South Carolina. The theme park is a popular summer Carolina attraction, one of three major theme parks in the Carolinas. Charlotte's Carowinds is owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.
