Statues_at_the_square_004.JPG

The city of Charlotte has four statues on the corners of the main square of the city, the corners of Trade Street and Tryon Street. This figure, of a gold miner spilling money on the head of a banker, represents Commerce. The three other statues represent Future, Industry and Transportation. American sculptor Raymond Kaskey created the four public art statues. Some people say the face of the banker is modeled after Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.
