Travelers looking for old-world, traditional Mexico only need to travel about 30 minutes from Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa to find the gold mining town of Petatlan, population 18,000. ..The town boasts the beautiful church "Cristo Jesus de Petatlan," where travelers light hundreds of candles daily in memory of and prayer for loved ones.
