Wild_Horses_Corolla_001.JPG
Wild horses and wild ponies pause along the beach in Corolla, NC. The Outer Banks of North Carolina is one of very few places in America where wild horses still roam free. The horses, which delight beach goers and their cameras, are descendants from Spanish stock that arrived more than 400 years ago. Since then, these hardy, tenacious horses have lived along the beaches of the Outer Banks, roaming from Shackleford Banks, all along Core Banks, Ocracoke, Hatteras, and on northward beyond Corolla on Currituck Banks.
